Sept. 24 AAAS Kavli Webinar: Science Journalism During a Pandemic and Beyond
To help mark its 75th anniversary, the AAAS Kavli Science Journalism Awards program will host a Sept. 24 webinar on “Science Journalism During a Pandemic and Beyond.”
Four distinguished winners of the award will participate in the panel discussion: Carl Zimmer, a weekly columnist for The New York Times; Maggie Koerth, senior science editor at FiveThirtyEight; Angela Saini, British science journalist, broadcaster and author; and Azeen Ghorayshi, science editor for BuzzFeed News, who will serve as moderator.
The speakers will discuss the present and future of science reporting during challenging times – the fitful global response to COVID-19, the long-standing health inequities highlighted by the pandemic, and urgent demands for more diversity in science and society. What lessons are being learned, and where might be we be in 2045 at the centennial of the awards program?
The event will be at 1:00 p.m. U.S. Eastern time. Register at: aaas.org/SJAwebinar.
